A going away party was hosted for us here. Communication was a little shakey in the beginning when trying to plan this, but in the end, everything worked out, and we had a very nice experience. The food was not amazing, but it was good, and even though we had a limited menu for our large group, there was still plenty of variety. The waitresses did an amazing job, ensured accuracy, and were very attentive. There was ample parking, and service at the bar was timely and accurate, as well.
We had an unexpected cancelation of our Thanksgiving plans, and nothing much to eat at home. I remember reading that the Fireside was open and serving the traditional turkey dinner (among other nice offerings). I called at 4 pm, hoping, but not expecting we could get in. They were so nice and very willing to accommodate the 2 of us. First of all, the restaurant was beautiful, warm and cozy. Our server, Mary was exceptional as were our drinks and those extraordinary meals! I feel guilty we had never been there before. We only live in Racine...certainly a quick drive. We learned that the restaurant would be closing after 50 years. So sad to hear. We plan to return as soon as we can. We can't thank the entire Fireside staff for a night we will never forget.
It was wonderful to get out and dine again. The food was still very good! And although Fireside looked the same, the atmosphere and the seevice were nowhere up to the standards of excellence from so many years ago
Delicious fish fry with 3 large pieces of cod with choice of pasta or variety of potato. I choose roasted and it was great. Also came with 2 options for soup. Highly recommend their food.
I ordered some chicken Parmesan via Doordash tonight. The food was excellent! It was hot, looked delicious & tasted even better! My only complaint would be that I wanted some tomatoes in my salad, but I had some in the fridge....no biggie. Thank u guys for preparing me a wonderful dinner & I'm looking forward to checking out other meals on ur menu. Great job, guys! Keep it up!
This is a hidden jewel. Great food and service. They are just outdated and need serious remodeling and that's an understatement, BUT, food is great. I wouldn't call it 'trash' as someone else commented because the food is very good and we never had bad service. Considering how the COVID hoax destroyed many small businesses, it's still a favorite of mine. It's just a time capsule from the 50/60's. Sometimes they are short staffed, but most restaurants are these days.
I've been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years. although I miss Gloria my favorite hostess and was really surprised that the present day hostess was so disconnected The food is still amazing as always!
I just want to say most of these reviews are ludicrous. People are mad their waiting at busy dinner hour or holidays? Have you ever eaten out before? One is mad about a straw...for his water?Another upset over a holiday menu? Come on People...just lame. Get a life. ****** Our experience was fantastic. We were there for my aunts memorial dinner, the staff was absolutely wonderful. Very attentive, friendly, kept the food stocked nicely, cleared tables quickly. Perfect service. The restaurant was very clean, the bartender was fast and friendly. The food was hot, delicious home made dishes. We were very pleased with the respectful, efficient service. Thank you Fireside!
